DRESSCODE: MEET BRITTANY HAMPTON

Brittany Hampton in vintage Escada tennis print suit at Recess Los angelesWe had the opportunity to play dress up with the effervescent Brittany Hampton for a colorful Escada editorial photoshoot. Brittany is an energetic fashion multi-hyphenate who has worked across the industry and shines both in front of the camera and behind the scenes- a rare breed! We immediately thought of Brittany for this fun and playful collection, and knew she'd bring it to life. Here are six questions with Brittany:

Please tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Brittany Hampton, I currently live in Los Angeles CA and I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I moved out to Los Angeles the summer after graduation from FIDM in 2011 and have worked in the industry as a wardrobe stylist, model, and fashion designer.

What do you do?
I tend to always have my hands in a few baskets but as of recently, I became the junior creative and women's designer of Honor The Gift, a brand created to represent the Inner City by Russell Westbrook. As I navigate through other avenues that present themselves to me, I am also still freelance styling and content creating for other brands and talent. I also plan to finish out the year with a couple of shows I am in the process of creating.

Who or what inspires you?
Inspiration is something I take pride in trying to find daily but one person that is always my constant reminder to keep believing in my creative process is my Apu, my grandmother. She is the one person that I want to make sure will have the chance to see all of her talents lived through me.

How would you describe your personal style?
I've always called it pretty eclectic. I decide what character I feel like playing the morning of, or if I have an event to go to, I plan around that! This is definitely one of the reasons I found RECESS! the best part about it is going in to see Marie and telling her a vision I have and watching her help me pull garments that fit the exact timeframe and mood that I am feeling.

What is one of your all-time favorite vintage finds?
I wish I still had it (inserts crying face here) I bought a Roberto Cavalli silk yellow slip with chiffon trimming from Marie roughly 5 years ago and there is nothing that can compare that cut to this date.

Who are some of your favorite designers and why?
Wow the list could go on and go but lets start here:

Diane Von Furstenberg - The woman who created the wrap dress, no explanation needed
Issey Miyake - Elegance that was driven by simplicity and effortless silhouettes.
Vivienne Westwood - mixed pattern plays are to die for!
The Brand ESCADA - The prints and patterns + the models they had in every shoot.
