DRESSCODE: WISH YOU WERE HERE

Days continue to march on as we shelter in place, and things have gotten real: Sweatpants have become the norm, we happy hour via zoom, carbs are our friends, and we've finally caught up on all of our shows. Time is a blur in our isolated vacuums, all of us experiencing different realities while navigating the same uncertain waters.

Our dreams have become more vivid, and we're fantasizing about all of the places we'll go and all of the things we'll do once "free." While the siren call of our favorite boutiques, bars, and restaurants beckon, we're itching for a complete change of scenery- if only in our imagination. There are countless articles, stories, posts, and videos making the case for getting dressed to positively influence our emotional and mental state. It's called enclothed cognition, and it's a real phenomenon. We've taken that wisdom one step further to manifest future adventures with an inspired wardrobe. We've put together our dream travel guide with outfit inspo, so you not only feel great and look the part, but are equipped with recommendations for a future amazing experience. (take notes!)

We've also included items from some of our friends within the vintage community. Please click through the links, check out their stores, and follow their instagrams- they've all got amazing shops! We all need an antidote to sweatpants, face masks, and Amazon- thank you for your support!

Oh, the places you'll go! We miss you all and wish you were here- here on our fantasy getaway, or even here at our store.

NEW YORK

Who doesn't love that New York hustle and bustle? While crowded subways, packed restaurants, and standing-room-only bars make up the city's buzzing vibe, our perfect day in the city would consist of a leisurely day wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art (it's their 150th anniversary!), checking out the current exhibit, strolling alongside Central Park, grabbing lunch at the Chelsea Market, and ending at Employees Only for a drink and bite before falling into the sheets at the beautifully swank NoMad hotel. While you're there, don't miss out on the whole roasted foie gras truffle chicken.

You may find people trying to take sneaky selfies with you in this pop art inspired Love print shirt by Versace when they realize the iconic Robert Indiana sculpture is no longer around. Pair with Converse to pound those museum floors throughout the day and swap into heels for a night of craft cocktails.

MONTE CARLO

After way too many long, drawn out days spent in elastic waist pants, the opportunity to play out our Bond Girl fantasy decked out in glittery sequins is one we wouldn't pass up. We'd strive to carry ourselves like Princess Grace during the day, wandering her namesake Rose Garden in style before our seawater spa treatment at Thermes Marins. A light lunch of local oysters with champagne at Perles de Monte Carlo will be the perfect apértif before an extravagant Michelin 3-star dinner at Le Louis XV. Come nighttime, we'll be swept into the illuminating lights and sexy drama of GoldenEye with a few hands at the Monte Carlo Casino before diving into bed at the majestic Hôtel de Paris, the sophisticated Princess' favorite celebratory spot.

MALDIVES

We're suckers for a beautiful beach, and the Maldives has some of the tops. Granted, it's the one place on this list we've never been, but this is a fantasy vacation, so we're heading to paradise at full-throttle with these recommendations in hand. The shallow turquoise waters of the Maldives lend themselves all kinds of water activities, from snorkeling and diving to parasailing and tubing. Islands are small, and each resort is basically a private island- so pick your vacation based on the resort. Made up of nearly 1200 small islands, the Maldives are a beach lover's paradise, but are also a luxe locale. How to marry the two? A Jean Paul Gaultier mesh dress (sheerly) covers all of the bases. Bright, airy, and perfect for beach weather with a pair of Richard Kerr earrings for day, but still polished and sexy enough for evening dinner dates and midnight strolls on the sand topped with a William de Lillo bead necklace.

We would start the day with a little yoga over the water before island hopping to some of the local (non-resort) islands and enjoy a barbecue out at a sandbar for lunch. A little afternoon snorkeling and some deckside lounge time before a sunset fishing trip and dinner at the resort. Leave some time to catch a view of the "sea of stars" caused by bioluminescent plankton shimmering in the sea. We'd head off to bed, lulled to sleep by the relaxing sound of soft waves.

MARRAKESH

As you might remember, Marrakesh has been one of our most favorite travel destinations. We can't wait to go back, and would immerse ourselves in all the vibrant colors, scents, sounds, and smells- a definite head change from our current continuance. A colorful, covered tunic and pant set is appropriate for nearly any setting, so you're ready for anything. An oversized medallion necklace has enough presence to stand up to the shimmering fabric, and a long gold filigree necklace takes it to the next level.

We'd start the day with a beautiful, carb-fueled breakfast at the riad before heading off to the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech. We love soaking in the ambiance and aura of Saint Laurent and could spend hours there. Of course, we'd spend a little time walking the Jardin Majorelle and getting lost shopping in the tangled mazes of the souks before taking a respite in our riad courtyard before dinner. With so many beautiful spaces in Marrakesh, it's a hard decision- but given this is our fantasy trip, we'd splurge on La Mamounia or the Royal Mansour for a night or two to take advantage of their breathtaking restaurant and spa amenities before heading to a smaller riad where we can enjoy Morocco's warm hospitality.

PALM SPRINGS

We love a good a Palm Springs getaway- far enough to feel like a world away, but close enough to ensure no extreme planning necessary. Whatever plans you do make are easy...have breakfast, lounge by the pool all day, lunch, cocktails, dinner, repeat. Of course, we also recommend a day of mid-century furniture and vintage shopping- you just may find that perfect Lucite table, Milo Baughman etagere, or 70s brass wall decor. A day of hunting calls for an enjoyable meal at Workshop before heading back to the hotel for a nightcap at Counter Reformation. We love staying at the Parker Palm Springs, this place has it all - it's great hotel for walking the grounds and sipping cocktails surrounded by superb architecture and decor. Be sure to have a meal at Mister Parker's while you're there.

We also love the photography of Slim Aarons, especially his "Poolside Gossip" shot in Palm Springs- a showcasing the good life, a seamless integration of great taste and style in fashion and architecture. Aarons described his work as "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places."

A sparkling pool surrounded by sunshine and palms begs for an outfit of equal brightness. We'd wear this sheer net dress over a white bikini for poolside cocktails as a Slim Aarons photo come to life.

POSITANO

The charm of the Amalfi Coast can't be beat. Positano is the picturesque cliffside town of our dreams, perfect in every way. Spectacular ocean views set between vibrant, technicolor homes beg for you to be just as attractive. We would start the day with a morning hillside hike, taking in the magnificent views from the Path of the Gods trail while getting a great workout. After a quick shower, throw on an effortless floral dress and take a leisurely lunch to rest those legs before wandering the narrow winding streets that curve up the mountainside. After working up an appetite for a wonderful pasta dinner, finish it off with a limoncello digestif before a nighttime stroll. This is the place to slow down and enjoy being in the moment.

A chic pair of Chanel sunnies, YSL rope belt, and fun (yet walkable) sandals are the workhorses that will see you through the trip, while a breezy floral batwing dress in a fun, bold print is the perfect accessory to those colorful cliffs.
