DRESS CODE: FALL TRANSITION
The sun is still blazing in Southern California, so we're welcoming the start of fall the LA way. Here are our fave five signs of fall that don't include pumpkin spice. Wake us up when September ends.
Our favorite (and possibly only) way to view falling leaves in Los Angeles is printed on this floaty silk chiffon skirt by Gianni Versace. Vibrant yet light, this piece is perfect for wearing on those warm, lingering last days of summer sun. As it gets cooler, we'd transition this skirt with tight turtlenecks, tights, sweaters, and boots for an off-duty ballerina kind of cool.
One of the best things to look forward to once fall starts creeping into the air? A great sweater dress, like this beaded fringed version by Andrea Jovine. It hits all of the checkboxes: curve-hugging softness, beads, fringe, and a shocking hue in a one-piece outfit that's the definition of one-and-done. Just add little black ankle boots.
This vintage silk chiffon high neck dress features an ornate beaded collar that's basically your built-in necklace and dress in one. Not only does this dress transition from late summer into fall, but it is the perfect black-tie event piece. We'd add a pair of jeweled heels and satin clutch, and you're event ready in minutes. Just don't forget the earrings and cocktail!
This velvet rainbow ombre Todd Oldham slip dress is the embodiment of our 90s childhood in a single piece of clothing- all that and a bag of chips. Perfect for the not-quite-cold weather of early fall, this warm-toned rainbow dress would look great layered over a white tee with round Lennon-inspired specs for day, or with a sharp tuxedo blazer with the sleeves pushed up and a pair of Converse for the coolest night out.
Fall is officially the start of metallic season. This sheer metallic lamé jacket by Jerri Sherman is the perfect layering piece to transition into fall. Reflective metallics in lush jewel tones are light and floaty on a chiffon base. We would layer over a fitted black tissue turtleneck, leather pant, and a stacked heel boot, topped off with a leather biker hat.
